Piezotom je napredna oprema za kirurgijo z ultrazvokom. Načelo delovanja temelji na lokalnem destruktivnem učinku ultrazvočnega sevanja na kostno tkivo.

Kako deluje piezotom

Ultrasonic device structurally consists of a “scalpel” with nozzles and a regulating unit, which sets the necessary frequency of oscillations to achieve the desired effect. The frequency range of the equipment is wide – 10-29000 Hz, with an amplitude of vibrations in the range of 60-200 microns. The power and frequency are selected by the dentist depending on the surgical objectives. This contributes to effective work with bone tissues of different structure and density.

What ultrasound is used for in dentistry

In the conditions of modern dental clinics piezotome is used in the following cases:

• To remove a retined or dystopian tooth, often problematic “eights”.
• In sinus elevator procedures to cut the gum under the maxillary sinus.
• For splitting the alveolar ridge.
• For shaping the implant site.
• In endodontic treatment.
• Cutting the frenulum of the palate and tongue.
