Even with high technology prosthodontics, a cyst under the crown of the tooth appears. The causes of cystic formation are due to the error of the prosthodontist or dental technician. Poor oral hygiene after prosthetics leads to such consequences.

To prevent this from happening, dental procedures should be performed by experienced dentists. We look forward to seeing you at ROOTT clinics in Moscow.

Causes of the development of the formation

With us you will get a solution to the problem and removal of cystic formation, regardless of the cause of its appearance.

Causes

Features of development

Inaccurate fitting of the crown

Organic debris accumulates between the crown and the tooth, which is difficult to clean out with standard procedures. Their decomposition leads to inflammation, which reaches the root and becomes the cause of cystic formation.

Poor-quality endodontic treatment before prosthetic treatment

Infection remains in the canals, which is fought by leukocytes. The remnants of dead leukocytes fill the bubble.

Poor retention of the crown on the prepared tooth

Residual organic matter gets under the crown, decomposes and causes infection. It leads to the appearance of granuloma, outgrowth into a cyst.

How to understand that a cyst has formed under the crown?

Symptoms of incipient formation are not too expressive, which is the insidiousness of the disease. As long as the cystic bubble is small in size, it does not carry discomfort (slight pain when pressing on the tooth). At this stage, the formation is detected by X-ray or panoramic image, where the bubble is visible as a dark rounded spot in the photo.

When the formation grows to a significant size, requiring surgical measures for elimination, the patient has the following symptoms:

  • severe pain, increasing at night;
  • worsening of the condition;
  • fever;
  • enlargement of cervical lymph nodes;
  • the formation of a flux or fistula on the projection of the cyst.

Treatment of cysts

From the size of the cystic bladder and the clinical picture depends on the method of treatment:

  • At an early stage – remove by acting with a laser on the projection of the gingiva.
  • Treatment through the root canal, for which the denture is removed. There is a risk of damaging the denture. Through the enlarged root canal is injected with a drug that kills the cyst. The cavity that was eaten away by the cystic bubble in the bone is filled with a biocompatible material. If the crown was saved during removal, it is put on again, if not – change the prosthesis.
  • Make an incision on the projection of the gingiva, take out the cystic bubble, performing treatment and filling the remaining cavity.
  • The extreme measure is the extraction of the tooth.

Regular visits to the ROOTT dentist, x-rays – a chance to notice and remove the cyst at an early stage.
