What braces do adults put?

Sometimes the orthodontist recommends one model of corrective construction, as the only effective for a particular clinical picture. But usually the patient independently chooses the treatment option, coordinating the choice with the doctor.

• If the budget is small, the patient is ready to wait 1-1.5 years for correction of the dentoalveolar apparatus, and he is a non-public person, the classic metal model is put. This design has been tested for decades, millions of corrected smiles.
• If it is inappropriate for patients to walk around with “iron” on their teeth, ceramic or sapphire models are considered for correction. The price of these designs is higher, but they are aesthetic, durable, give decent corrective results.
• If the patient wants to hide orthodontic treatment, lingual models (inconspicuous, but expensive) are suitable.

Stages of adult orthodontic treatment

• Study of the structure of the jaw, the location of the teeth (X-ray, 3D-scanning, making an accurate impression of the jaw);
• Selection of the type of corrective appliances and installation;
• Recommendations on hygiene, choice of brushes and others;
• Regular visits to the orthodontist for arch activation, ligature replacement, treatment monitoring. The frequency of visits depends on the type of braces used;
• Removing the structure and fixing the result with retention tools.
